The news that the president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata has died of bile duct, has led to a 55-year old cancer outpouring of grief on social networks.
Mr. Iwata, who began his career as a programmer at a subsidiary of Nintendo in the 1980s, continues to serve as president from 2002 to 2015. His goal was the least complex and make it accessible to all game.
Iwata has known for its affordable performance and passion for the game. He once said: "In my business, I am a company president in my mind I am a game developer, but in my heart, I'm a player ..."
He oversaw the launch of the Wii and Nintendo DS, the best-selling home and handheld consoles, each in the history of Nintendo.
He also helped create many of the most popular Nintendo games, including Super Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Wii Fit, Star Fox Adventures and Donkey Kong.
Nintendo has lowered flags to half-mast at its headquarters in Japan in memory of Mr. Iwata.
