A leading psychologist has warned that young people are facing a crisis of masculinity by overuse of video games and pornography.
Psychologist and professor emeritus at Stanford University Phillip Zimbardo carried out warnings that form an important part of his latest book, The Man (Dis) connected.
In an interview over the weekend of the BBC World Service, Zimbardo said the results of their study in depth look at the lives of 20,000 young people and their relationship with video games and pornography.
He said: "Our goal is, young men playing video games too much, in social isolation - they are alone in the room."
"Now, with the pornography available, which in combination is in the history of video games unique, and as a break, since the average porn two hours a week."
Zimbardo says there is a "crisis" among young men, many of whom are experiencing a "new form of dependency" excessive use of pornography and video games.
Zimbardo gave a TED conference in 2011 to describe the problems of social development of young people and school success, deposits excessive use of pornography, video games and the Internet.
He cites the example of a mother who during the conduct of the study, the child has not seen the problem observed in games for up to 15 hours per day.
Zimbardo said: "For me, the" "is not the number of hours, there is a psychological change of mentality". Excess
Give an example of the mentality of a young man, gambling and pornography addict, he said: "When I was in class, I wish I was playing World of Warcraft, if I as a girl, I love you I was just pornography. I never rejected. "
Zimbardo says this relatively new phenomenon affects the minds of young men.
Citing research that had he and his team for the book, he said: "It's beginning to start to change the brain function to change the brain's reward center, and creates a kind of excitement and addiction.".
"What I want to say is - the brains of children rewired more digital."
He also mentioned the growing problem of a controversial phenomenon called "induced erectile dysfunction porn" or PIE. "The boys were boys are now having trouble maintaining an erection"
"You have this paradox -. The look interesting videos you should turn on, and can not be switched"
An article in Psychology Today, however, argues that no demonstrable scientific correlations between the consumption of pornography and erectile dysfunction.
In his opinion, the solution is to accept that the problem is serious - parents should know the number of hours a child playing alone in his room and watching porn at the expense of other activities spends his.
He also accused the negative images of men in the media in the United States, the men as "hicks, unwanted, did not want to fuck and be sufficient to do that."
He has also called for better sex education in schools - should not only focus on the biology and safety, but also emotions, physical contact and relationships.
The pressing issue of mental health of the people is now a much greater importance than in the past. Last year the first conference of the male psychology at University College London, the promotion of the British Psychological Society, a specialist section of men has to present to sit with his female counterpart.
Zimbardo believes that excessive use of solitary and porn game seriously stunted social development of children
Charitable Campaign life miserable, or rest, was launched in the year 2006 and has to encourage a high level of recognition in recent years for their efforts, people discuss mental health problems and lower suicide rate in men won.
Phillip Zimbardo is famous for the experience of the Stanford Prison in 1971, in which he asked 24 students to play the role of "guardian" and "prisoners" in a mock prison on the Stanford University. Is expected two weeks, the experiment was abandoned after six days after the "Guardian" has become more than normally extremely sadistic and "prisoners" have become dim and depressed.
The experiment should the extreme impressionability and obedience of people when they demonstrate presented with an ideology of media and power.
